KINETIC TESTING
- Column testing for waste rocks and course tailings
- Shoe box testing for fine grained tailings
- Saturated tests for underwater / seawater emplacement of tailings
This may also include:
- Leach-water analysis, (pH, EC, TDS, pe, alkalinity, anion, cation and metal analysis), weekly bi-weekly or what is found most suitable for the specific mine
- Mineralogy analysis of material before and after leach testing
- Sequential chemical extraction before and after leach testing
- Grain size / surface area analysis
- Flow-rate estimates
- Geochemical modeling of the leachate water
- Mineral reaction-rate calculation based on the kinetic tests result
- Data interpretation
Contact Dr. Ingar Walder (ifwalder@kjeoy.no) for cost estimates of tests.
Kinetic testing is a required testing method for most mine projects with sulfidic ore. KREC has been performing kinetic tests for seven years, supported many student in the lab for their bachelor, master and PhD research. KREC is primarily following the european guideline CEN15635 for kinetic testing of sulfidic mine waste, but can easily modify the tests to follow ASTM testing protocols or set up tests basted on the site specific climate conditions. Kinetic tests are most commonly set up in the lab under different physical conditions.
We can also design field kinetic tests and and help in organizing these tests.
We follow up with the supporting tests and interpret the data to the level tat is needed: sequential chemical extraction, mineralogy in addition to the weekly water sampling and analysis..
